Who Cares Anyway...? were formed at Nottingham University in 1986 by Dunc (Guitar and Vocals), Des (Drums) and Chris (Bass).
The band started playing a mixture of original material and covers, playing numerous gigs around the campus before becoming a four piece when Gary joined on lead guitar. As well as starting to play gigs futher afield, demos were recorded at U.R.N (Nottingham University's radio station) and Ebony Studios in Leeds.
In the summer of 1988 Chris left the band and was replaced by local bass guitarist Tim. Later that year Gary unexpectedly decided to quit the band and for the next few months WCA...? carried on playing as a three piece while looking for a replacement lead guitarist. In April 1989 Ian joined on lead guitar, completing the lineup that would stay consistent for the next three and a half years.
By now the band were playing predominantly original songs, with new material being written all the time.
Over the next few years the band played many gigs and recorded several demos. As well as many headline gigs there were support slots with such groups as Saxon, Wildhearts, Atom Seed, Tatooed Love boys, Soho Roses amongst others. The band played numerous venues in the Midlands including Rock City and Edwards no8, as well as many in and around London including The Sir George Robey, The Dome and The Hellfire Club.
Early in 1992 a deal was struck with Dead Head Management, an up and coming music management company based in London. Throughout the year the band, with the help of Dead Head, tried to attract the attention of the record companies, but it wasn't to be. In October WCA were dropped by Dead Head, and shortly after this Ian decided to call it a day.
Dunc, Des and Tim decided to carry on playing as a three piece, but thoughts of rock 'n' roll stardom were begining to fade. Changes in personal circumstances meant that the guys couldn't commit themselves to the band to the same extent as they had in the past, but to this day the three of them still play the occasional gig... and probably always will!
